Connection to the self through reflection and isolation produces healing.
Human connection is a beautiful need. It makes sense why we place so much emphasis on the company of others because we need it to feel loved, accepted, and closer to ourselves at our core.
However, we have another need that can lose priority next to human connections. A connection with the self. Sometimes, human connection can become so absorbing that it is nothing to lose yourself and the direction you want your life to go for the sake of others. Connection to the self through reflection and isolation produces healing.
If there’s anything that I’ve learned already this year — it’s essential to maintain strong connections to those you love, but not at the cost of losing yourself or time to yourself. Personal time and reflection.
There’s nothing selfish about taking some time and removing yourself from the convenience of others to truly focus and key on your goals, your values, your mood, and the things you want for your life.
